Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is a large Foundation Trust set over two hospital sites (Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley District Hospital). It is the Major Trauma Centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria. There are a wide number of specialities providing fantastic opportunity to develop your health care skills in a dynamic therapy environment.
We are currently looking to recruit motivated and enthusiastic individuals as Therapy Assistants to join our Therapy Teams. You will work with patients alongside Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, as well as the wider multi-disciplinary team in the ward environment, day case and the outpatient setting. We will provide a supported work environment where you can develop your skills and knowledge and play a key role in the delivery of high quality health care.
The roles will primarily involve assisting therapists in the delivery of therapeutic healthcare in the following areas:
- Musculoskeletal Outpatients
- Elective Orthopaedics
- Women’s Health
- Acute Stroke
The post holder must have good communication and interpersonal skills, be flexible and be able to work in a team. Due to the nature of the patients’ conditions the post can at times be physically demanding.
If you enjoy working at a fast pace within a busy therapy environment, working directly with patients, and being part of a multi-disciplinary team, then this is the role for you.
In recognition of the need for enhanced provision, the Integrated Therapy Service is looking to move towards 7 day working, and as such the successful candidate will be expected to support this model of care when it is implemented
There is a free staff mini bus for travel between the two sites. Both Royal Preston and Chorley Hospitals are easily accessed via the M6 and M61 motorways. There is easy access to NW Cities, Towns and rural country side. The area is supported by extensive rail and bus networks. There is convenient access to sporting facilities and the great outdoors with the Lake District being only 50 miles away.
