We are seeking to appoint a substantive Consultant Urological Surgeon who is proficient in core urology and has a specialist interest to compliment those of the existing consultant team.

The successful applicant will join a Department of eight Urologists who currently provide urological care and treatment for the people of Lancashire & South Cumbria. The Urology Department provides a service to the residents of Preston and Chorley and is a centre for pelvic surgery within the Lancashire and South Cumbria cancer network.

The Department has been approved for subspecialty training in laparoscopic surgery by BAUS. Laparoscopic nephrectomy, pyeloplasty, radical prostatectomy and laparoscopic radical cystectomy are performed routinely in the Department.

You should have established skills in general and specialist urology and you will be expected to support the elective and emergency workload of the Department.

Undergraduate medical student teaching commenced in 2003 and the Trust has active and developing links with Universities of Manchester and Central Lancashire. Considerable opportunities exist for research and development, which are integral to teaching hospital status.
