The Junior Clinical Fellow post will share the in-patient duties with the 2 other junior doctors (including an element of prospective cover). Whilst covering the wards the post-holder would be expected to participate in ward-rounds and multi-disciplinary team meetings. He/she would work under the supervision of the stroke consultants. The post is for 12 months and will provide very good basic training in stroke medicine with experience of all the common problems associated with strokes and TIA's along with exposure to some tertiary specialist services and neurology. The post would be excellent preparation for a specialist training post.

We are keen that candidates are afforded all the educational opportunities of specialist trainees in each of the posts. All successful applicants will be provided with access to the national e-portfolio and be allocated an educational supervisor. Post-holders will be encouraged to attend appropriate local training sessions and complete formal assessments in line with what is expected of junior trainees. At the end of the post successful applicants will therefore be able to demonstrate evidence of learning and the acquisition of skills and competences that will strengthen their applications for speciality training posts.
