Applications are invited for a post of Senior Clinical Fellow in the Department of Respiratory Medicine.  The post will be based at Royal Preston Hospital, working predominantly with Dr M Munavvar, Consultant Chest Physician. It will offer special experience in Basic and Advanced Techniques in Bronchoscopy/ Thoracoscopy, Lung Cancer and Tuberculosis, besides various other aspects of Respiratory Medicine.  Experience in Respiratory Medicine/ Bronchoscopy is essential.

The applicant should have experience in respiratory medicine and MRCP, and will be expected to supervise CMTs with in-patient and out-patient work. There will be some undergraduate teaching commitment as well. The post is offered for a period of 12 months. The candidate will be expected to complete a clinical research and audit project during this period. There is an excellent purpose built education centre with extensive library facilities. This post should be viewed as a career advancement in respiratory medicine, and developing subspecialisation in Interventional Bronchoscopy.

You should be eligible to work in the UK in a non-training grade post, as this post is not recognised for training purposes, although existing specialty trainees applying for out of programme experience should have had the period prospectively recognised on appointment. Most recent appointees have had this training recognised by JRCPTB.

If you are successful in obtaining a position with our Trust which involves working with patients, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS). As a registered body with the DBS, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will conduct the administration of this application on your behalf and the cost will be recovered from your salary, either as a one-off payment or over 3 months.  Currently the charge made by the Disclosure and Barring Service for a DBS check is £48.20.
