Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust forms one of the major acute trusts in the North West with all of the usual specialties on site, as well as being a Tertiary Centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria in the Departments of Prosthetics, Neurosciences, Nephrology, Oncology, Plastic Surgery and Burns. Undergraduate medical student teaching commenced in 2003. We offer the full range of acute outpatient and inpatient services to the 380,000 people living in Central Lancashire.

Services are provided at the Specialist Mobility Rehabilitation Centre (SMRC), Fulwood, Preston, plus at other locations (when required) throughout the catchment area of Lancashire & South Cumbria (including patient domiciles). 

The Specialist Mobility Rehabilitation Centre is a specifically adapted rehabilitation unit offering full prosthetic limb, orthotic and wheelchair services.

At the SMRC we are, totally focused in ‘Quality of Care’ and are proud to be long term, established recipients of Customer Service Excellence (previously Charter Mark) and also ISO-9001:2015 accredited.

We now require a flexible and enthusiastic individual to join our team, who will play a key role in support of the delivery of high quality treatment and care to patients.

Facilities include full clinical suites required for examination and treatment including fitting rooms, medical consulting rooms, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, casting rooms, interview rooms, separate paediatric rooms,  workshop, machine room, administration office and store room. The unit is fully supported by the Royal Preston Hospital and the comprehensive outpatient service such as Pharmacy and Radiology.

The department supports a full Multidisciplinary team including Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine, Specialist Physiotherapists, Specialist Occupational Therapists, Senior Sisters, Health Care Assistants, Consultant Counsellor (EMDR in Amputee Rehabilitation), Assistant Practitioners, Prosthetists, Orthotists, Technicians and Rehabilitation Engineers.
