The Radiotherapy Service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is looking for an experienced Therapeutic Radiographer, confident in working in a fast paced multi-professional environment to take a lead role in treatment delivery activities in our busy department.

This post would be suitable for someone already working at this level, or for a specialist radiographer practitioner looking to develop their career in a leadership position.

This role offers a blend of advanced clinical practice and personnel management; you will have responsibility for professional clinical supervision and first-line managerial oversight  of the superficial x-ray and linear accelerator teams,  and provide support to the departmental Senior Leadership team.

You will have high standards of professional practice and be a role model for junior staff and pre-registration learners, leading by example to deliver the best possible service to our patients and their carers.

Treatment delivery equipment comprises seven clinical linear accelerators (all CBCT), APEX microMLC for stereotaxy and an Xstrahl superficial x-ray unit. The department also has 2 x Philips Brilliance Big Bore CT, AcQsim Virtual Simulation and Pinnacle Treatment Planning System with installation of Raystation underway.

The department is part of the North West Radiotherapy Operational Delivery Network and the Greater Manchester, Lancashire and South Cumbria Stereotactic Radiosurgery service (in partnership with Salford Royal NHS FT and The Christie NHS FT), is a commissioned SABR provider and provides clinical placements for pre-registration therapeutic radiography students from the University of Liverpool.

We are committed to evidence based practice, have a certificated ISO9001 Quality Management System and participate in multi-centre portfolio research trials. Post-graduate study, research and development and clinical audit is encouraged and supported. Our aim is to give our patients an excellent experience whilst in our care and the best outcomes, by ensuring a highly skilled and engaged staff group.

The Radiotherapy Department is on the Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Royal Preston Hospital site. Preston has excellent road and rail links, being in easy reach of the M6 / M61 / M55 motorways and a key station on the West Coast mainline between London Euston and Glasgow / Edinburgh.
