We are really excited to be opening our newly refurbished, modern therapy led step down rehabilitation unit at Royal Preston Hospital very soon. We are looking to recruit a first class therapy and nursing team to deliver a high quality rehabilitation service over 7 days so that our patients can achieve their recovery goals and get back to the comfort of their home environment at the earliest opportunity.

For this new venture we require an outstanding unit lead, this position is open to suitably experienced Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. It is initially a 5 month secondment, but with the right person leading this unit we will prove it is required on a permanent basis and hope to make the post permanent in 2021.

We know that timely access to therapeutic intervention improves the short and long term recovery prognosis for our patients therefore; it is our mission to deliver treatment in the right place, at the right time. We will do this through extending our services on site to create a holistic patient journey and to give our expert therapists the dedicated space and time to focus on rehabilitation and recovery treatments. An exciting addition to our normal provision will be an early supported discharge (ESD) model; this will be delivered by the entire therapy team as and when indicated.

We require a forward thinking, enthusiastic individual who will rise to the challenge of developing and leading a brand new model of care. You will have natural leadership ability and transferrable skills to match the role requirements. You will not only lead the therapy team but also the nursing team and those in the very important supporting roles e.g. discharge facilitator, ward clerk and housekeeper.

You will be responsible for the highest standards in safety, quality and clinical governance, whilst delivering outstanding patient care. You will be required to bring the new team together, motivate them and ensure a rehabilitation ethos is adopted throughout the unit. Another key responsibility is upskilling the whole team in rehabilitation skills/competencies.

You will be fully supported by the Professional Leads in Core Therapies, who will hold overall accountability for the unit. They will provide regular supervision and support the daily running of the unit, reporting activity and performance into the divisional forums.

This is a brilliant opportunity to enhance your leadership and rehabilitation skills and to experience a truly integrated therapy led approach in a brand new, purpose built, rehabilitation setting. You will have the opportunity to learn and develop in ways that are not possible in traditional therapy leadership roles, whilst improving outcomes and pathways for our patients.

If you would like to know more or have any questions, please get in touch.
