An exciting opportunity has become available for specialist Band 6 physiotherapists to join the integrated acute medical teams and home oxygen team on a split post basis.
There are two posts available are;
- Royal Preston Hospital – Acute Medicine and Home Oxygen Service
- Chorley and South Ribble Hospital – Acute Medicine and Home Oxygen Service
These split posts offer an exciting opportunity to develop specialist skills across a both of these specialist clinical areas and will give the opportunity to work across inpatient, outpatient and community settings all within the one post. This post provides the opportunity to develop clinical and leadership skills and gain experience of service development.
The role within the acute medical team will provide the opportunity to develop skills in; acute respiratory assessment and management, comprehensive elderly care assessment, management and discharge planning. It will offer the experience of working as part of an integrated therapy service team that form part of the wider MDT who work collaborative to achieve the best outcomes for our patients.
The role within the home oxygen service will provide the opportunity to develop skills in the management of chronic respiratory diseases and the assessment and management of home oxygen prescription including long term and ambulatory oxygen. You will work alongside the MDT to prescribe oxygen for patient’s being discharged from the acute setting alongside assessing and managing patients within outpatient clinics and on home visits.
The successful candidate will be supported in both clinical areas by a clinical lead physiotherapist based within each field. They will be offered regular supervision, appraisal and training opportunities to support continuous professional development.
The Core Therapy Service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is an integrated service between Physiotherapy and Occupational therapy. The clinical management structure and culture provides a welcoming, inclusive and supported environment where all members are encouraged to strive to reach their full potential and are valued in the role they play in delivering high quality health care for our patients.
The service has close links with the local universities and as such the successful applicant would have the experience in the clinical education of physiotherapy students.
The Core Therapy Service provides an emergency on call service; the successful candidate will be expected to participate in this provision.
In recognition of the need for enhancing our service, the Core Therapy Service is looking to move towards 7 day working, and as such the successful candidate will be expected to support this model of care when it is implemented.
