An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 12 month secondment to cover maternity leave, Band 7 Palliative Care Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the well-established multi-professional Palliative care team at Lancashire teaching hospitals. The service covers both Chorley and Preston sites and you will be part of our seven day service. A Band 6 post could be considered where experience is not adequate for band 7 post.
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and highly motivated nurse with a good knowledge of palliative care to join our existing team.
You will be an energetic, motivated specialist nurse who possesses excellent communication skills which will allow you to support patients and families referred to the service.
You must have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills in order to maintain and develop the team further. In addition to direct patient care the role will involve supporting ward staff, delivering education through ward based teaching.
The HSPCT works collaboratively with other teams within the Trust. In addition, we work collaboratively with local hospice and palliative care services as well as other Network palliative care teams delivering an efficient service to our patients.
As a registered nurse with experience of palliative and end of life care, you must be IT literate, able to set your own plans and priorities, managing your workload to meet targets and timescales. You must possess the experience and skills to work on your own initiative and make safe effective decisions in the absence of clinical support. You will be working alongside the existing nursing and medical staff and will be required to report to the Palliative & End of Life Care Lead Nurse.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
