Applications are invited for a substantive Consultant in Orthodontics for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust across both the Royal Preston and Chorley and South Ribble District Hospitals sites.
This placement post is for 9.5 PAs, with part time applicants welcomed and encouraged.
You will work with other colleagues within the Head & Neck specialty business unit providing and developing a comprehensive Consultant service for the region.
The post involves treatment of severe and complex malocclusions to the highest standard. Orthognathic surgery is carried out at Royal Preston Hospital, with monthly multi-disciplinary clinics held jointly with the Consultant Maxillo-facial Surgeon and the Consultants in Orthodontics and Restorative multi-disciplinary clinics with the Consultants in Restorative Dentistry and Consultants in Orthodontics. Monthly clinics are also held at Royal Preston Hospital by the North West Regional Cleft Lip and Palate Network.
The unit has an excellent on-site maxillo-facial and orthodontic laboratory. In addition, the laboratory provides a service for Restorative Dentistry and a regional service for the manufacture and refitting of prosthetics for Neurosurgery, Plastics and ENT.
There is an established Local Orthodontic Clinical Network for Lancashire and a number of orthodontic specialist practices in the local area.
Applicants must be on the General Dental Council Specialist list in Orthodontics and hold or be within 6 months of obtaining the intercollegiate Speciality Fellowship Exit Examination in Orthodontics or equivalent.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
