Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Orthodontics. This is a substantive post to join a team of two Orthodontic consultants at Royal Preston Hospital, Lancashire. This is a post of 4 PAs (this can be negotiated upon offer).
The successful candidate will be required to provide Consultant Orthodontic services as part of a multidisciplinary team for patients with complex malocclusions and those requiring multidisciplinary Restorative and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery input.
You will deliver a high quality advisory and treatment service for appropriate referrals in accordance with regional referral protocols.
This role will also include upholding relevant management duties for the proper functioning of the department and participating in clinical audit and clinical governance. The post holder is expected take an active role in the formulation, implementation and monitoring of the department’s business plan within the context of the Directorate.
The unit has an excellent on-site maxillo-facial and orthodontic laboratory. In addition, the laboratory provides a service for Restorative Dentistry and a regional service for the manufacture and refitting of prosthetics for Neurosurgery, Plastics and ENT.
There is an established Local Orthodontic Clinical Network for Lancashire and a number of orthodontic specialist practices in the local area.
Applicants must be on the General Dental Council Specialist list in Orthodontics and hold or be within 6 months of obtaining the intercollegiate Speciality Fellowship Exit Examination in Orthodontics or equivalent.
