We have an exciting opportunity for caring and compassionate Assistant practitioner who wants to work in the innovative field of cancer nursing, providing excellent quality care for cancer patients during their Treatment.
1x permanent, 30 hours
1x fixed term Maternity cover, full time
Ribblesdale is a 28 bedded oncology/haematology ward. As a Band 4 Assistant Practitioner you will have a great opportunity to build your existing knowledge, while learning about Oncology nursing.
The Rosemere Cancer Centre, which has celebrated being open for 20 years in February 2017, is the regional cancer centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria. We provide complex regimes and chemo – radiotherapy treatments. During our 20 years research and development has seen many improvements in the care and treatments that are delivered and this is set to continue. We are expanding our service and developing more closer to home treatment strategies and more nurse led services.
As a cancer nurse you will have access to training and education as well as the support of a fantastic, dedicated team. The opportunities for a cancer nurse are wide ranging and our career pathways branch out into many other areas setting you off on a rewarding career.
LTHTR are the region’s provider of cancer, neurosciences, mobility and rehabilitation, renal, burns and plastics tertiary specialties. In the past two years we have been accredited as the major Trauma Centre, for Lancashire and South Cumbria, as well as the regional Vascular Centre. We are in the process transferring specialist cancer surgery to our Cancer Centre, and are expanding ENT Oncology, Urology, Colorectal and Upper Gastrointestinal surgery.

- Cytotoxic chemotherapy
- Trial treatments
- Biological therapies
- Palliative care including complex symptom management at end of life.

We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic staff with excellent communication skills to join our already established teams but also develop new services and ways of working as our Oncology teams grasp this opportunity to influence, shape and develop the changing face of cancer care and service provision at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
