This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Cancer Centre at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in a busy and varied role. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate prior experience in a customer-facing healthcare environment, meticulous attention to detail and excellent organisational skills ensuring patients, relatives and visitors receive the best possible service.
The role will involve booking in and discharging patients for their oncology and haematology outpatient appointments, radiotherapy treatment, chemotherapy clinics. Making follow up appointments, booking transport, obtaining medical records and advising patients, staff and relatives using various methods such as e-mail, letter and telephone and dealing with their inquiries is also a key part of this role.
You will be calm under pressure with a willingness to undertake and learn new tasks, able to prioritise and organise work in order to meet tight deadlines whilst being able to adapt to the changing needs of the service. It is essential to be able to demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, together with accuracy and attention to detail whilst maintaining confidentiality at all times. Good data entry/keyboard skills are desirable together with a basic understanding of medical terminology.
The successful candidate will be able to work as an individual and as part of a team having the ability to be flexible.
The Cancer Centre opens from 7.45am to 7.00pm Monday to Friday with Bank Holiday cover arranged on a rota basis.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
