We are really excited to be opening our newly refurbished, modern therapy led step down rehabilitation unit at Royal Preston Hospital very soon. We are looking to recruit a first class therapy team to deliver a high quality rehabilitation service over 7 days so that our patients can achieve their recovery goals and get back to the comfort of their home environment at the earliest opportunity.

We know that timely access to therapeutic treatment improves the short and long term recovery prognosis for our patients therefore; it is our mission to deliver treatment in the right place, at the right time. We will do this through extending our services on site to create a holistic patient journey and to give our expert therapists the dedicated space and time to focus on rehabilitation and recovery treatments. An exciting addition to our normal provision will be an early supported discharge (ESD) model; this will be delivered by the entire therapy team as and when indicated.

If you want to make a real difference to patient outcomes and develop your skills, knowledge and experience in the field of rehabilitation this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to our amazing team, who are passionate about the care and support they deliver to our patients.

We are looking for 2 fulltime band 6 occupational therapists for a 5 month secondment period, with the potential for these posts to become permanent in 2021. In your role, you will continue the assessments, interventions and plans that commenced in the acute setting. This will enable you to confidently predict the rehabilitation potential of the patients and to use a goals orientated approach to help people increase their independence and reduce their care and support needs. You will have an adaptable, flexible and positive approach to integrated working, with excellent communication and team working skills. An all-round rehabilitation approach is required with a good awareness of the impact of cognition on function as well as confidence in therapeutic moving and handling to progress patients from a physical perspective. You will have experience of risk management when progressing patients through to a safe and person centred discharge from the service.

This is a unique opportunity to enhance your rehabilitation skills and to experience a truly integrated therapy led approach in a brand new, purpose built, rehabilitation setting. You will have the opportunity to learn from each other in a team brought together through their desire to improve the discharge pathway for patients.
