The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Specialist Nursing Team covers the whole of Lancashire and are based at Royal Preston Hospital and are employed by Lancashire Teaching Hospitals Trust which is a regional centre for Neurology services.

We are looking to recruit a Clerical Assistant, you will be a highly motivated individual, with excellent organisational and administrative skills and good interpersonal skills.

You must be flexible in approach, able to exercise initiative, work independently and demonstrate a consistently high standard of professionalism, being aware of the need for confidentiality and integrity.

Previous experience in a medical environment is desirable. 

Reporting to the lead MS Specialist Nurse you will be responsible for:

  • Answering the MS Nurse helpline and directing calls appropriately
  • Booking patient appointments with the MS Nurses
  • Managing repeat prescriptions
  • Some typing of letters will be required
  • Other clerical work as necessary

You will be the first point of contact for our patients and therefore it is essential that you have excellent communication skills, you are caring, have a warm friendly manner, be able to prioritise and work under pressure with good keyboard skills.
