We currently have an exciting opportunity for full-time and/or part time specialist radiographers to work in the MRI department within the Imaging Directorate at this busy Acute Teaching Foundation Trust. We have regional services for Neurosciences, Vascular, Oncology, Renal and Plastics
The sucessful candidates will work solely in the MRI department to provide a 24 hour, 7 day service. A variety of Shift patterns are in place and available with 12.5 hour day shifts to include weekends, bank holidays and an on call service
Our department has had a full refurbishment during the installation of 3 new scanners over the past 4 years. The department is is housed in its own seperate building, bright and spacious and provides a suite of 4 scanners including a 3T Siemens Skyra scanner, 2 x1.5T Philips Ingenia scanners and an Esaote Oscan extremity scanner.
LTHTR is a regional specilaty centre for Neuro, oncology, renal and vascular and the casemix referred to MR is varied to reflect this. We scan patients referred from Neurosurgery, Neurology, Oncology, MSK, vascular, Upper GI/GU, Gynae and paediatrics. We run 3-4 general anaesthetic MR sessions per week for paediatric, neonates and adults with learning or physical disabilities, and we have a radiographer/anaesthetic led oral sedation service for claustrophobic patients. We have full MR conditional general anasethetic equiment and monitoring so we also receive referrals from other Trusts in the Northwest for these services as well as providing cover for our large critical care unit which is currently being expanded. The unit has been designed to accommodate a 3 bedded recovery bay in order to develop this service further
There are many exciting current developments with our MR services. We have a dedicated TIA, sarcoma, Head&Neck and mpProstate imaging service. We continue to develop our advanced Neuro imaging to include fMRI, Spectroscopy, DTI, perfusion, Nevro spinal column stimulators, participate in research trials, and within the last year we have started scanning patients with MR conditional pacemakers.
The MR radiographers and Imaging department assistants work very closely with the Consultant radiologists, registrars and anaesthetic teams for a streamlined service. Our excellent team working relationships and motivated staff make this a very happy and innovative place to work and a great opportunity to enhance or broaden your skills in MR and undertake a wide variety of MR imaging
As a directorate we actively encourage staff development and have a 4 tier structure in place. We offer a full induction and development opportunities to the right candidates.
