Our Colorectal Acute Surgical ward has 32 beds and is managed by a team of five clinical nurse specialists and seven colorectal surgeons. It’s a fast-paced, challenging, and rewarding environment where we’re committed to providing the highest standards of care, and supporting all our staff to learn and develop.
We work collaboratively with other disciplines including the nutrition team, therapists, specialist nurses, pain and palliative specialists, providing you with excellent opportunities for career development and to enhance your knowledge and skills.
As part of the wider Cancer Centre at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, we are excited about progressing our treatment options with the arrival of the new state of the art cancer surgery robot which will improve patient outcomes, and provide us with opportunities to develop new skills and techniques.
We also have a strong track record in education, and support our student nurses to work as valuable members of the team. You will have a range of opportunities with an environment to develop and learn new skills. We offer a two week in-depth induction for less experienced nurse and those new to the Trust we offer a 6 week supernumerary period with support from the clinical educators. During your development you will achieve specific competencies for example administration of total parental nutrition, care of central lines PICC and the care of colo rectal patients.
As a Teaching Hospital we are committed to your continuous personal and professional development, so it will come as no surprise for you to hear that we offer a wide range of clinical and non-clinical development opportunities ranging from time management to interview skills. We are keen to provide all our staff with the opportunity to learn, which means some of our courses are provided via online learning through our own dedicated Trust site, so staff can develop knowledge as and when they want or need to.
In addition to the many other benefits of working at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, you may also be entitled to apply for our relocation package. As a Trust we recognise the importance of securing the right candidate for a role; and we therefore offer an attractive relocation package of £1,500 for any nurse relocating more than one hour away from their current address.
For any further information regarding our relocation package, please contact a member of the Recruitment Team.
