We are offering an exciting opportunity for the post of Junior Clinical Fellow in the busy Department of Gastroenterology within Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic new member of the team to commence with us as soon as possible following the satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks.

The post will be based on Ward 24, the Gastroenterology ward within Royal Preston Hospital working alongside Dr A Sharma, Dr P Shields and Dr W Gashau, our Consultant Gastroenterologists. The post will offer experience in various aspects of Gastroenterology and Acute Medicine. Royal Preston Hospital offers two large endoscopy suites to provide extensive training in endoscopy for the successful applicant.

Previous experience in General Medicine would be desirable, but with a busy Medical Assessment Unit and on-call medical rota, there are a variety of opportunities available to enhance knowledge and experience in this area. There will be a lot of opportunities to undertake undergraduate teaching commitment and training sessions as well. The post is offered for a period of 12 months in the first instance, with a view to extension.

The hours of work will be Monday-Friday 9.00am-5.00pm with a potential commitment to participate in the on-call medical rota.

The candidate will be expected to complete a clinical audit project during this period. Lancashire Teaching Hospitals provide an excellent purpose built education centre with extensive library facilities.

This post should be viewed as a foundation to career advancement in Gastroenterology. You should be eligible to work in the UK in a non-training grade post, as this post is not recognised for training purposes.
