We are looking to recruit dynamic and focused applicants to the exciting post of Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine. Several posts are available and will be based predominantly on the Chorley and South Ribble Hospital site, with some shifts at the Royal Preston Hospital Emergency Department which is the Major Trauma Centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is renowned for our teaching, training and support with modern educational facilities and simulation suites. Within the department there is a current FCEM examiner as well as experience of supporting doctors through the CESR application process. There will be a designated Consultant supervisor for the duration of the rotation.
The post of Specialty Doctor is full time (although applications from part-time candidates are welcome) and full participation in the 1:6 shift pattern rota with your middle-grade colleagues is required. All shifts are full shifts on site and there is no on-call cover. The appointee will be joining our team of 17 (13 whole time equivalent) Consultants, 14 Middle Grades, 21 Junior Doctors (F2-ST2 grades) and 3 FY1 doctors who work across the 2 sites at Preston and Chorley.
You will have completed at least four years’ full time postgraduate training or part-time/flexible equivalent, at least two of which will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty, or as a fixed term specialty trainee, or you will be able to demonstrate equivalent training and competencies from your previous employment.
