We are inviting applications from dynamic candidates for the post of Consultant Physician in Diabetes and Endocrinology, to complement our existing team of six consultants.

This post will be based at Royal Preston Hospital. This is a new post established to meet the increased workload of the Department and to expand specialist service in Diabetes & Endocrinology.

The department already provides a broad range of sub specialities in Diabetes including insulin pump clinics, young people and transitional clinics, antenatal clinics, diabetes foot clinics and general diabetic clinics. In endocrinology the department provides pituitary service with neurosurgeons, radio-iodine service, familial hyperlipidaemia clinic and osteoporosis clinic in addition to general endocrine clinics.

The post holder will be encouraged to develop their own sub-speciality interest or help in the existing clinics. In addition, the post holder will contribute in rotation to the running of inpatient General Medicine ward and will take part in the medical on-call rota. The post holder will be expected to teach 3rd year medical students on a regular basis as a part of this post. They will also be encouraged to take active part in research if they wish.

The successful applicant will need to possess CCT in endocrinology, diabetes and general internal medicine or be within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview.
