An exciting opportunity has arisen to join us at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which was awarded NHS Foundation Trust status with effect from 1 April 2005. This is a replacement post for less than full time (5 PAs) as a Specialty Doctor in Community Paediatrics, to commence as soon as possible. There is some flexibility around the days worked.
You will join a thriving and fully integrated Child Health Directorate comprising of 21.5 WTE Consultants, including 2 Paediatric Neurologists. There are 6 WTE Consultant Community Paediatricians and 3.6 WTE specialty doctors in community Paediatrics (including this post).
The post is based mainly in Preston. There will be close working relationship with the Paediatric Neurologists and other Paediatricians. Duties include developmental assessment of children, assessment of children with neurodevelopmental problems including autism and ADHD, assessment of children with complex needs within special school, and providing advice to education regarding children with special educational needs.
There is also the possibility to accommodate an appointee’s special interest. So if the appointee would like to develop an interest in a specific area, e.g. Neurodisability or Audiology one of the community session could be changed to reflect that interest and further training could be arranged. These could include other areas of Paediatrics. There are no on call commitments for this post. The appointee is not expected to be involved in assessing children referred with safeguarding concerns.
We can offer you considerable opportunities for research and development within the Trust, there are active and developing links with the Universities of Manchester and Central Lancashire and as a department we are increasing our commitment to medical student teaching, being seconded to the Trust from the University of Manchester.
