This is an exciting opportunity to work within the Clinical Education Team as part of the Workforce & Education Directorate.
We are looking for a highly motivated practitioner (Nurse / Paramedic) who can plan, develop and implement effective and innovative clinical skills training sessions to support the development of the Medical Students on placement at LTHTR as well as assess competence of clinical skills to meet Manchester Medical School curriculum requirements.
You should be competent in a range of clinical skills such as cannulation, venepuncture, IV fluids and have experience of teaching staff or students in the classroom or clinical setting. A positive, enthusiastic and friendly attitude along with a desire to teach is vital.
You will also provide clinical skills teaching support across the wider team for a range of health care professionals including AIM, Clinical skills Framework, OSCE’s and doctors induction assessments. The team is heavily involved in promotional events and you will be involved in Open Days and 6th form experience events throughout the year.
You will have current clinical experience in an acute care environment with an excellent standard of clinical skills and demonstrate the drive to improve practice and care for our patients through education and training.
You will be responsible for your own workload and need to be able to act autonomously as well as have the ability to work well as part of the Clinical Education team.
You will be required to develop excellent working relationships liaising with relevant personnel within the Trust, Medical School as well as creating a supportive learning environment for all learners.
The post holder will be based in the Education Centre at Royal Preston Hospital but will be required to work across both Preston and Chorley Hospital sites and be flexible to meet the hours and demands of the workload. Some travel to Manchester Medical School will be required.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
