Applications are invited for one full time locum consultant post based at the Royal Preston Hospital site to complete a complement of 12 consultants in the Department of Cellular Pathology within a large and thriving Pathology Directorate providing histopathology and autopsy services to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. You will share with colleagues surgical histopathology arising from clinical work in the Trust and from local GPs and will be expected to establish specialist interests complementary to the existing Cancer subspecialisation in the department. A willingness to partake in the autopsy rota would be desirable.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is a designated delivery partner for the North West Coast Genomics Medicine Centre.
The Trust provides the full range of acute outpatient and inpatient services to 380,000 people living in Central Lancashire. It also provides specialist services including the Network Cancer Centre to 1.5 million people in the Lancashire and South Cumbria area and has active and developing links with the University of Central Lancashire and Manchester University including provision of the clinical medical student curriculum and modules. Good opportunities for research are available.
Central Lancashire is an attractive area to live, with many facilities available locally, and the cities of Manchester and Liverpool within easy reach. Recreational facilities are many and varied, with the Lake District, Ribble Valley, Yorkshire Dales and Fylde Coast (including Blackpool) nearby
You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
