We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague who will help to develop the local Acute Medicine and Critical Care services. The clinical duties are mainly based at Chorley with few sessions at the Preston site. We also have very well-established links with local primary care trust. This is an excoriating opportunity to join our Trust.

The post holder will be able to provide direct input into the care of patients referred to Acute Medicine from GPs and the A&E department, working across both RPH and CDH sites.  You will contribute to multidisciplinary teams and lead the co-ordination of patient care as well as assuming a continuous commitment for the care of patients, even if employed less than full-time and ensure that adequate arrangements are made for leave and off-duty period.

You will be promoting high professional standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by the maintenance of continuing professional development, develop close links with General Practitioners operating in the area and exercise the freedom to develop the services to reflect perceived priorities within available resources.

Our Critical Care unit currently has 28 beds on the RPH site and 4 on the CDH site with a view to expand and is committed to teaching, with considerable importance placed to support all our Junior Medical staff.  The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the teaching programme within the department.

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust forms one of the major acute Trusts in the North West with all of the usual specialties on site as well as being a Tertiary Centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria in the departments of Neurosciences, Oncology, Plastic Surgery and Burns and Renal Medicine.
