An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, skilled doctor to join our Respiratory Department at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LTHTR) serving a local population of 390,000.
This is a replacement appointment and the successful applicant will work closely as part of a dynamic Respiratory team. The department provides Tertiary Respiratory services in Interventional Bronchology, Ventilation, Asthma and ILD to Lancashire and South Cumbria. The post will be based at Chorley District Hospital, working with Dr Haider, Consultant Chest Physician. The post offers specialist experience in various aspects of Respiratory Medicine (including Bronchoscopy & EBUS, NIV, lung cancer, COPD, asthma, bronchiectasis and interstitial lung disease) as well as involvement in Clinical Audit and Research.
The applicant should have a minimum of 2 years’ experience at CT/ST level in Acute/general medicine and 2 years’ experience at ST/middle grade in Respiratory medicine. The post holder will be expected to supervise & support junior colleagues. There will be some under graduate teaching commitment as well. The post is offered initially for 12 months which may be extendable to a permanent position with mutual agreement. Further details are available in the job description and person specifications.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the major acute Trusts in the North West with all of the usual specialties on site but is also a Tertiary Centre for Lancashire and South Cumbria in the Departments of Neurosciences, Nephrology, Oncology, Plastic Surgery and Burns. Services are provided across two sites: Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley & South Ribble District General Hospital.
The hospital complies with the European Working Time Directive and offers an excellent Postgraduate Medical Centre and library. The post holder will be part of the Respiratory Firm and will assist in the training and development of other members of staff within the role, as required.
The Foundation Trust was formed in 2002 and is one of the largest NHS providers in the region employing over 5,300 staff. The hospital is ideally located next to major motorway networks and access to Manchester, Liverpool, Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District is less than 1 hour away.
If you are successful in obtaining a position with our Trust which involves working with patients, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS). As a registered body with the DBS, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will conduct the administration of this application on your behalf and the cost will be recovered from your salary, either as a one-off payment or over 3 months. Currently the charge made by the Disclosure and Barring Service for a DBS check is £44.00.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
